Our Ambassadors

Alison Thompson MBE, Honorary President

After coming to live in Winchester Alison worked at the Trinity Day Centre for some years and, as a result, became very aware of the issue of homelessness locally. Learning of the international and national Emmaus Movement she dedicated herself to the creation of a local Emmaus Community. From 2001 to 2013 Alison chaired the team that worked towards this goal. In 2003 negotiations opened with Hampshire County Council for the lease of the current site. The lease was signed in 2006 with £3 million needing to be raised in the following two years in order to secure the site. The Community opened in 2009, Alison remained Chair of Trustees until 2013 when the Trustees appointed her Honorary President, a position she treasures.

Tony Burton - Vice President

Following a long career in housebuilding, Tony established Burton Property Ltd in 2005; since 2008 the company has been a regular sponsor and fundraiser for Emmaus Hampshire through both Burton Property Ltd and Metis Homes, a Winchester housebuilder established by Tony with Adam O’Brien in 2008. Tony and his wife Jane also enjoy managing their own vineyard.

Anita Clark – Vice President

Anita is our longest serving volunteer and has been responsible for generating over £250,000 as our “go to lady” for Bric a Brac; she accepted the role of Vice President in 2016. She has also given her time to Cancer Research, founding the Breast Cancer Group in Winchester, and been a foster carer for disabled children for over 30 years.

Keith Falconer - Vice President

Keith joined Emmaus Hampshire as a Trustee and Treasurer in 2001 and in 2013 was appointed as Chairman, a position he held until 2016. Keith was delighted to accept the appointment as a vice president so he could continue to help and support the charity which had been close to his heart for so long.
