Tony's Story
From the moment I walked into this fabulous community, I was able to sleep safely again.
As a child, I went to boarding school and received a very good education. I’ve been married twice and have four grown-up children. My second marriage broke up and I drank to cope with my pain, causing me to lose my job. I became part of a group of rough sleepers within my local town and it was here that I learned of the work of Emmaus Hampshire.
From the moment I walked into this fabulous community, I was able to sleep safely again and I have withdrawn from using alcohol as a dependency.
Over the last 6 years, Emmaus has allowed me the scope to contribute to the running and success of the community where I have been involved in our shops. I am also a community chef and cater for my fellow companions. I have also managed our distribution service, the training of our drivers and most recently, I have become the Communities Facilities Manager.
